Some sad news was announced today: Bloomingdale’s in the Mall of America will be closing in mid-March. It’s the first of the four original anchor stores to close since the mall’s grand opening in 1992 (the other anchors are Nordstrom, Macy’s and Sears). The only Bloomie’s in Minnesota, we’re losing a little piece of NY as well as a little piece of our hearts.
According to local news coverage, the space will be renovated in order to house 4 new retailers, 3 of which will be new to MN. We’re keeping our fingers crossed for a Bendel’s or at least one of these other stores.
Another potential silver lining? We’re hoping to score some killer store-closing deals. If you see us there, get out of the way. We don’t want anyone to get hurt.
