Yesterday during happy hour a group of our friends were discussing dating deal-breakers. This led us to think about fashion deal-breakers: what things are just not acceptable? What rules are absolutely not meant to be broken?
We realize that lovesthat is about celebrating personal style, but we’re not talking about “rules” like don’t wear red and pink together because it clashes (we’ve already seen from Emma Stone that it can be pulled off).
No, the point of this post isn’t to berate others for not sharing our individual tastes. This is something bigger. This is about leggings as pants.
Ladies, leggings should never be worn as pants. Never. We aren’t talking about wearing leggings under a dress, skirt or tunic. Lord knows we’ve had our fair share of questioning whether something was too short before deciding that a pair of leggings would make it acceptable to wear in public. What we’re talking about is this:
Oh, Olivia. We expected more from you.
Here’s our cardinal rule on the issue: if whatever you’re wearing doesn’t cover your butt and ESPECIALLY if it doesn’t cover your lady parts, leggings absolutely cannot qualify as part of the outfit. End of story.
